Cultural Capital of Southwest Florida

Known as the Cultural Capital of Southwest Florida, Sarasota is the mecca of arts, theater, dining and cultural attractions in the area... all within a short distance from several world-famous beaches. But it all began with a man named John Ringling and his beloved wife Mable. Ringling had his winter home in Sarasota, an Italian-style palace called Cá d’Zan, as glamorous as any European mansion complete with a fabulous art collection. He helped build the town into what it is today, leaving a legacy that can still be felt throughout.T he circus history runs deep in this town with nods throughout to Ringling and his many years spent in our area, but John and Mable's love and authenticity for the arts scene is what has truly remained.  The whole area is rich with culture, with a theater and arts district, and the bay front Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Along the coast is a ribbon of islands renowned for their soft, white sands, marine wildlife, Zagat-rated restaurants and distinct personalities.
